World Mental Health Day

It was a day like every day, a day in January, in the 8 degrees Egypt.

Scrolling my Facebook, I came across my favourite psychology page about World Mental Health Day.

For some people, the world tells another story. For some people, it feels cold in summer, dark in sunshine and mute in laughter.

Being around their close people, yet, feeling they are thousands of miles away, feeling lost in their own homes and not recognising themselves anymore are all part of their distorted lives that because of which they seek home in solitude.

The 20th of October of every year is the “World Mental Health Day”. It’s the time of the year when people are reminded to take care of their mental health and when people around them lend them a helping hand shoving some of their emotional barriers and ask them if they are okay..

But you don’t need to wait for a day once a year to take care of yourself. You don’t need to wait for a day once a year to take care of the people you love. The mental health day should be an “everyday.” It should be an everyday of your healing, growing and flourishing. It should be an everyday of “I’m here for you” and “I’m listening” to the people you love. It’s important to pause on your way through the journey of your life to take a deep breath and recognise your whereabouts and where you’re going. It’s important to find the spark of light to spark your passion, smile, love and laughter. It’s important to feel home in yourself and in the people you love. More importantly, it’s important to do that every day to passionately and admirably live your “everyday” and if you feel you’re trapped in the middle of a dark “nowhere” and can’t do it on your own, it’s okay to seek a professional help. It’s okay to seek a professional help to feel okay and to take care of yourself. It’s meant to guide you back
on track and to help you heal, grow and flourish.

But, along the process of your healing, growing and flourishing, don’t forget to hold on to your people’s hands. Be their listeners, their support and their back. Be around for them even if you are incapable of changing anything. Your
presence matters.

Tomorrow is a new day. Every day is a new day and every day is a new beginning..for you and for everyone you love. Every day could be your new start to your journey of healing, happiness and passion. It’s never too late and never too old.
To more healing, growing and flourishing…
